Dessert Delights

My mother is an excellent cook. We have always been treated to the most amazing meals at home. Friends and relatives, and even restauranteurs were always spell-bound by the meals she would put together. She could always read her audience and the context – the weather, the season, the people in attendance – it all mattered. And it all showed. She learned from her mother, who is an excellent cook, and I have learned from her. But more on that later.

She started a small bakery service from home – cakes and quiches and the like – made-to-order and home-delivered. It was called 'Dessert Delights'. It was a big-hit in the Hiranandani Gardens residential complex we lived in.

I put together a menu that we would print and stick to the box – it was a small touch, but it seemed to legitimise the whole operation a tiny bit more!

An illustration of the menu applied to the box.

A couple of posters I had made for display at a stall my mom had put up.
